Beaumont-Wilshire Newsletter

The Beaumont-Wilshire Newsletter is a bimonthly publication (6 issues a year) staffed by BWNA Board members and residents at large. Paper copies are delivered to over 2,800 homes and businesses by more than 60 volunteer distributors, and a printable color version is posted on the "Newsletters" page of this website. 

 

Beaumont-Wilshire neighbors are encouraged to submit articles and announcements not exceeding 500 words and "Letter to the Board" editorials not exceeding 250 words on topics of local concern. All submissions are subject to editing and, upon request to the editor, can be reviewed by the submitter prior to publishing. As for purchasing ads, a step-by-step procedure is provided below.

Newsletter Submissions

We strive to have our newsletter to reflect the people and businesses of our neighborhood.  We invite you to participate through submitting article ideas, visual content, announcements, "Letter to the Board" editorials, or advertising.

 

Deadlines

The deadline for submitting articles, announcements, “Letter to the Board” editorials, and ads is the  first day of even-numbered months (February 1, April 1, etc.). Newsletter distribution takes place during the first week of odd-numbered months.

Editorial Content

Submit via email (in WORD format, if possible) prior to the deadline to BWNA newsletter editor: editor@bwnapdx.org

Photos or Graphics

Noting which article goes with what photo or graphic, submit photos and graphics directly to graphic designer Jane Feinberg at design@bwnapdx.org

Advertising

Advertising in our newsletter is a critical element to keeping our efforts sustainable, and it's a valuable way to reach relevant patrons, clients, and customers. We deliver to over 2,800 households in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood. See below for pricing, ad size, and the submission process.

 

**Opportunity to advertise will be dependent on available space in upcoming newsletters.**

Step 1: Select your desired ad size:

Standard business card size ad: (3.5” wide x 2.25” high) = $40 per issue (minimum of 3 issues) $225 for 6 issues (which is a savings of $15)

Double-size ad: (3.5” wide x 4.25” high or 7.5” wide x 2.25” high, landscape/horizontal) = $60 per issue (minimum of 3 issues) $325 for 6 issues (which is a savings of $35)

Half-page ad: (7.5″ wide x 5″ high) = $110 per issue (no minimum number of issues) $595 for 6 issues (which is a savings of $65)

Step 2: Determine a period of time to advertise (3 issues = half year, 6 issues = full year)

Step 3: Send an email to BWNA Treasurer Karla Lenox (treasurer@bwnapdx.org) and Editor Susan Trabucco (editor@bwnapdx.org) requesting to become an advertiser with your ad size selection and period-of-time selection

Step 4: Once approved for space in upcoming newsletters, email your ad directly to Graphic Designer Jane Feinberg (design@bwnapdx.org).  Most versatile formats are PDF and jpg files.  Contact Jane if you have any questions regarding your ad.

Step 5: Karla will email an invoice to you, which will be due prior to the next ad submission deadline.

Newsletter Distribution

 

The newsletter is hand-delivered by neighborhood volunteers. There are usually routes that need captains or delivery people. WE NEED YOU.  To volunteer, contact:
