Who We Are
Records suggest the Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood Association may have been established as early as the 1970s. It is one of 95 officially recognized neighborhood associations in Portland, Oregon. Its all-volunteer board is committed to serving its residents and local business owners. The Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, as recognized by the City of Portland, extends from NE 33rd to 47th Avenue and is bordered by NE Alberta Court and Prescott on the north and NE Morris, Stanton, and Wistaria Drive on the south.
Monthly association meetings alternate between board and general meetings, both of which are open to all. At these meetings the elected board members conduct their work in public. Agenda items may include determining the annual budget and spending priorities; progress on planned events and activities; presentations by community groups or elected officials; and land use, safety, and transportation issues. The bimonthly general meetings offer neighbors an opportunity to ask questions or voice concerns on neighborhood issues.
Mission
The mission of BWNA is to enhance the livability of our neighborhood by undertaking neighborhood improvement projects, examining local issues, and serving as a conduit for communication between neighbors, government agencies and officials, area businesses, and other neighborhood institutions and groups.
We are committed to diversity and equity in all our activities. We work closely with the Beaumont Business Association and are allied with 28 other nearby neighborhood associations through the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods.
To keep neighbors informed of association activities and other neighborhood news, BWNA produces a free bimonthly newsletter that's hand-delivered by volunteers to every resident and business doorstep in the neighborhood. Revenue from advertisements covers newsletter printing costs; revenue in excess of expenses helps support the events and activities of the association.
