About the Event

Tour four private gardens in the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood, each with an art-for-sale component. Gardens and art are varied. Find a garden oasis replete with tropical and subtropical plants, a Mediterranean style home with a focus on succulent plants from that climate, a lovely patio space designed by one of the occupants with native plantings featured, and a sunny and art-filled garden that’s home to the artist.

Garden 1: Wander through this inviting Northwest garden, with its various twists and turns. Find art by both homeowners; welded occasional tables that hold up to the outdoor elements, and a backyard cottage filled with creations in various media – from the whimsical and entertaining to the politically-incorrect!

Garden 2: Friends call it an oasis – tour this small but dramatic tropical-ish garden replete with jumbo elephant ears, banana plants and a tiny Caribbean-themed bar area. Art on display and for sale is of homeowner’s glass-on-glass art – perfect for adding some sparkle or privacy to your own garden. Visit Spot On Creative for more info.

Garden 3: This Mediterranean-style home is landscaped to complement the architecture. Here, find grandiose succulents of many species and colors; 50-year-old tropical palms and cycads – and more. This garden was inspired in part by Concordia author Loree Bohl. Her book, “Fearless Gardening,” provided inspiration for this gardener. Loree also writes the popular blog www.thedangergarden.com.

Garden art for sale is of playful ceramic pieces, mostly in stacked totem form, that enhance a garden by providing focal points throughout.  Many have bird and flora accents inspired by nature.  And others provide a fun punch of color. Visit debmorganart.com for more info.

Garden 4: This small garden is a testament to good landscape design of the resident’s doing. A former mud-inclined lawn now boasts a paved patio covered by a graceful, high-pitched arbor that lets in light but keeps out rain. Native plants and fruit trees abound, with a sprinkle of unique tropical plants for additional interest.

Garden art featured here are works of elegant metal design that can be used for outdoor wall art, privacy panels or gate inserts.  For more info on the artist visit Kehrnan Shaw Studios.
